Started designing and building a trailer today out of aluminum scrap. Used to be patio furniture. It will be of the two wheel variety. Will have to stay behind when we move, so I'm not too serious about it. My goal is for it to be lightweight and almost free. So far so good.

| All aluminum except for those two curved I bars in the middle. |

| Has quite a curve to it. Its center of gravy will be pretty low I hope. |
Like the lines. Why would you have to leave it behind?

Well, that's the plan anyway. I'm trying to widdle my stuff down a bit prior to Dallas. But if it comes out great, I'll certainly consider bringing it along. It's not my ideal design, but it could be interesting.
ReplyDeleteI'm working on a way to make my trailer available to share by locking it somewhere central and offering users a key or combination. Thinking about just having a facebook page for it and making a hitches on a per bike basis.
ReplyDeleteAny thoughts for this 'community shared' trailer. If you leave yours behind we can double the fleet.
Spencer,
ReplyDeleteI really like that idea. That's what I'll plan on doing. I'd like to use the same hitch style as yours to make them interchangeable for users if the other is already in use or out of commission. Maybe we can meet up at commbikes sometime soon and identify what I need to do hardware-side for that?
sounds good. I want to switch to using a spherical rod end instead of the eye bolt. This should eliminate play in the hitch.
ReplyDeleteI'll modify my hitch and you can use it for testing your trailer. Just shoot me a text soon and I'll bring it too you.
